About This Project
md.tasta.space is a tiny share box for markdown files. Drop a .md, pick an expiry of 1, 2, or 3 days, and you get a clean shareable URL. The file renders pretty on the link, and disappears for real when the timer hits zero. No accounts. No email. No tracking. No paywall.
It exists because every other markdown sharing option wanted a signup, a textbox paste, or a private channel. This is the version that just works in 5 seconds.
Features
- Drag-drop or pick a
.mdfile (up to 5 MB) - Pick auto-delete after 1, 2, or 3 days
- Server-side CommonMark + GFM rendering with autolinks, tables, task lists, and fenced code
- Auto-generated table of contents from H1 to H3 headings
- Syntax highlighting via highlight.php on every fenced code block
- Reading time estimate and live countdown to expiry
- Download the rendered share as
.md, self-contained.html, or.pdf - Share buttons for X, Bluesky, and WhatsApp
- One-click delete via a secret key cached in your browser localStorage
- Hard-delete every 15 minutes: file, database row, and rendered HTML cache all gone
- Full localization in English, Romanian, Spanish, French, German, and Italian
- Light and dark theme that matches the rest of tasta.space
Privacy by default
Files are stored on a single Hetzner box, never sent to third parties, never indexed by search engines (every share page carries a noindex, nofollow tag). When the expiry hits, the file is hard-deleted from disk, database, and backups. No soft-delete, no archived copy, no telemetry.
Who it's for
Anyone who needs to send a markdown file to a friend, a colleague, or a stranger without making them sign up to anything. Drafting a postmortem? Sharing a README before it's on GitHub? Sending notes to someone who hates Notion? Drop the file, send the link, and forget about it.
It's free. Genuinely. If it saved you 20 minutes, you can buy me a coffee, no pressure.
