About This Project
api.tasta.space is the home of small APIs that are not meant to be taken too seriously. Each one gets its own page with documentation, examples and a try-it panel that calls the live API right from the browser. Some answer in JSON, some draw a picture as SVG or PNG.
The APIs
- Perle românești: 522 real slips of the tongue by 229 famous Romanians, each with its context and sources
- Sticker shop: comic bursts, speech balloons, rubber stamps and retro error windows, drawn on demand
- Moon phase: how much of the Moon is lit on any date, what the phase is called, and a drawing of it
- Banana for scale: anything converted into bananas, double-decker buses and other units nobody asked for
- Life stats: your life in silly units, down to the day of your billionth second
- Proverb mashup: half of one real proverb glued to half of another, in Romanian and English
- Real or fake village: real Romanian village names next to invented ones, as a guessing game
- Ghișeul: a simulated visit to a Romanian public office, ticket and missing paper included
- Fake country: a country that does not exist, with its flag, capital, currency and national dish
- Dig to the other side: where you come out if you dig straight down, and whether to bring a boat
Features
- No signup and no cookies, with open CORS, so every API works straight from a web page
- Free for 30 requests a minute and 1,000 a day, or 600 a minute with a key requested by email
- Rate limit headers on every response, so a client knows when to slow down
- Reproducible results for the APIs that make things up: the same seed gives the same answer, with a permalink
- JSON with proper Romanian characters, and pictures as SVG or PNG where an API draws one
More silly APIs are on the way, dice notation with exact odds first.
